In After Dark on Bourbon Street, Book Eight of #1 best-selling Amazon Romance writer Trinity Blacio’s futuristic Running in Fear series, we meet Valda Sart, a unique creature in this new world.
Valda hated being a Skunk Ape --a Bigfoot, a Yeti by another name. But she was no ordinary Skunk Ape. Valda had gifts and kept them hidden. But now someone was hunting her, and she knew it was only a matter of time before they caught her. The six men of her pack, the ones she'd been promised to, the ones who would not give up on her, were determined to claim her.
Her only option to keep her only freedom was to use her gift and blend in with the world around her. Hiding among the humans, she realized how much her life had sucked before she’d forged this new one in New Orleans. Here in the city, she had friends, and men who actually talked to her and courted her.
But for the last six years something had been pulling at her. It was only a matter of time before she, too, would have to join Jaycee, Suzanne and Lissa on the new planet. Even in her dreams she'd seen the new, beautiful world, and the wonderful and terrible beings already living there.
How can they ask her to give up romance, love and friends? Didn't they know what it would mean if this group of men found her?

I feel dirty in a way. Even though what we did was beautiful, these things have made me feel filthy, as if I’ve done something wrong.” She closed her eyes and leaned back.
The water cascaded down her back while Burr rubbed her scalp, helping to rinse her hair, then he stopped and wrapped his arms around her. His chin resting against the top of her head. “I’m sorry. I wish I could do something to ease this for you. We’ll find them, I promise you, and when we do, we’ll make sure they die for what they have done.”
He kissed her lips softly and reached behind her to turn off the water.
Griffin helped her out of the tub and dried her with a large warm towel. “It’s going to be hard for the next couple of days, Valda. From what your father and the others have told us, we have to find the four remaining Heliokillers who hurt you and destroy them. Until then, they will have this hold over you.”
She took the sweater Burr handed her and slipped it on without a bra. “I figured that out while I was stuck in that trance.” She stepped into the skirt Burr held at her feet and smiled.
“What happened to the underwear?” she teased and he grinned up at her.
“You don’t need any. Plus, we want to be able to touch you anytime we want.” Griffin slid his hands up under her sweater and cupped her breasts.
“I thought I would catch you two.” Owen snorted and leaned down. He sucked her nipple into his mouth when Griffin exposed her breast to him.
“The others are waiting. Your father has a plan to catch all four of the creatures, and maybe we’ll be able to learn what these things are going to do next.” Owen nipped her nose. “You scared us and I don’t like to be scared.” He held out his hand. “But I’ll make an exception this time since it wasn’t your fault.”
She laughed as Owen helped her through the house and into the dining room.
“Sit and eat. You can still hear everything from here,” he said.
She rolled her eyes as she sat at the table with Jaycee, Suzanne and Lissa. Each of them hugged her before they sat down again.
“So what’s this big plan you have?” Jaycee said before taking a bite of her pancakes and moaning. “Damn, Cecil did it again. These things are fabulous.”
Valda watched as Cecil placed a large plate of pancakes, sausages and strange-looking eggs in front of her. “Eat, you need to build yourself back up,” Cecil ordered and winked at her as Kanji grunted and drew her attention.
“From what I’ve been told, my brother and his mates located one of the Heliokillers’ larger vessels and destroyed it. This drew the attention of the four who attacked you. My question is: can you see them as they see you?” he asked, drawling snarls from her mates.
