I was born and raised in Southern California, with a huge sense of adventure. I’ve had the opportunity to travel and live in many different states. Reading has always been a part of my life, a great escape from reality. I started reading romance novels years ago and I fell in love with so many heroes that I wanted to write my own stories. My passion, dreams, and fantasies carry over into my writing.
My hope is that readers will enjoy my books so much that they will become an escape for them as much as they are for me. What woman doesn’t want to be the center of attention for masculine, sexy, alpha men?
Q: How often do you write?
A: I usually write daily. After I get my sixth grader off to school, I go to Starbucks for my usual—an iced, venti, caramel macchiato. I’m a coffee addict. (Giggle) Then I head home, open my laptop and get to work. Writing has become more than a hobby, it’s become a focus, and I hope a career path.
Q: When did you start writing?
A: My first book, Bella’s Rodeo turned into a series; Journey of a Thousand Miles. I started writing because it gave me something to do after a job ended suddenly. Waking up every morning and going to my laptop became my job and gave me a purpose. I’ve been writing since high school, short stories and poetry. I never tried to publish anything though, it was only a hobby. When Bella’s story ended, my husband told me to send it to Siren Publishing. I order all my books there; why not also write for them?
Q: How does it feel to be a published writer with Siren?
A: Amazing! Great! I sent my book into Siren Publishing before going on a family vacation. I wasn’t expecting to receive an email at all and getting confirmation from them, changed my attitude and my life. I was completely overjoyed; I called my husband, my mom, and my best girl friends. I just hope that people will read my books and like them.
Q: Where do you get the ideas for your books?
A: The first book, Bella’s Rodeo, was written with many elements that had happened in my life. Bella lost her job and was looking for an escape, and I really wanted to escape as well. Writing became my escape; I was able to pretend that I was on a road trip with my best girl friends, something that I’ve always wanted to do. Although, I doubt a place like Coltmann County exists. (Smile) How many women dream of having multiple men? I hope I’m not the only one. Most of the “scenes” are fantasies of mine.
Q: What do you enjoy reading?
A: I’m a huge reader, in fact I had so many books my husband finally bought me a Nook. I love romance, always have. If a reader can make me feel like I’m the heroine, if I can close my eyes and see the characters then I’m hooked. I’ve read tons of books from hundreds of different authors. I buy books and read daily, it’s my guilty pleasure, along with a coffee and the occasional cigarette.
Q: Is there any writers from Siren you would like to meet or work with?
A: Yes, yes, yes! I would love to do a book with Leah Brooke, Jenny Penn, Heather Rainier, Sophie Oak…the list could go on. I love many writers at Siren, I’ve read their books and I enjoy their style of writing. I could see myself being their friends and talking about hot men and the strong women who love them, or just sharing the occasional fantasy. I think I would feel like more of a success if a writer asked me to be a part of a book of short stories or to collaborate on a book. So…if any author from Siren likes my books, I would love to hear from you.
Q: What are you currently writing?
A: I just finished Handcuffs for Hannah, the second book in the Journey of a Thousand Miles series. Alyssa’s story is next, and right now, I’m in the beginning stages of the book. I do some outlining but mostly I just start typing. I have a goal of a few hundred words daily, some days are better than other days. My only hope is that people enjoy reading my books; I try to make each book as believable as possible.
