Sandy and Mike both left this small town in North Carolina years before and now, home for the holidays, they meet and connect. They both feel a magnetic pull toward the other, but will it last? Is it real and worth pursuing? What happens when two lonely people visit home during Christmas in a snowbound small town?
"Sitting on the sofa in the half light from the glowing Christmas tree, the homemade quilt heavy on my lap, I watched her in silhouette as she slowly descended the stairs.
"Don't get no ideas," she said and sat down beside me.
She hurriedly covered up. The T-shirt was tight on her and formed around the swell of her breasts. I tried to guess where the sleeping nipples were. Her hair was now loosely tie-up with a plastic clip. I noticed, before she slid under the blanket, she wore no panties, but then I hadn't seen a panty line under the Lycra pants. I detected a slight musk, light as a whiff of late morning fog. We sat the silently, taking in the decorated tree and the darkness and silence of the rest of the house. I leaned over and closed my eyes and we kissed, a soft, easy, slow getting to know you kiss.
