Omega Hayden Leigh is having a rough day. Ten months ago, he got the opportunity of a lifetime when his script was chosen for a new stage production. The play opens in four months, and yesterday, Hayden saw the first advertisement for it, which tripled all the same worries he’s had from day one -- what if he fails?
Now all Hayden can think about is failure, and after today’s horrible rehearsal, he’s certain that’s where he’s headed. If he blows this chance, he may never get another one. What he really needs is to get this off his mind for a while. The best way to do that is a good night with Charlie, his Alpha.
Fortunately, tonight is the first night of their monthly date weekend, which means all of Charlie’s attention should be on him.
Unfortunately, Charlie appears a little distracted by work tonight, and Hayden decides the best way to remedy that is with a little temptation. It works, of course, but there are always those pesky consequences that come from tempting his Alpha.
Oh, well. If this omega knows one thing, it’s how to deal with those pesky consequences that come from tempting his Alpha. In fact, it’s one of Hayden’s most favorite things to deal with in the world.
“Yeah, y’know what?” Charlie said. “I think I’m gonna have to call you back tomorrow. Monday, actually. Something’s suddenly ... come up.”
Hayden peered through his lashes and smirked at Charlie’s oh-so-subtle innuendo. Since Charlie had now started saying his farewells, Hayden sat upright and waited with a saucy grin on his face.
“O-okay, yes. Yeah, same to you. A-all right. Bye.”
Charlie hurried to end the call and released a heavy sigh. Before looking at Hayden, he lowered his head and huffed out a soft snicker. When he did finally look up, his eyes were dark and heated. Hayden wouldn’t’ve been too shocked if Charlie dove out of the seat at him.
“You,” he growled, the sound deep and guttural, and it struck Hayden in the belly, precise and accurate, in all the right ways. “Bedroom. Now.”
Hayden licked his lips and let out a playful hiss, said, “Yes, of course, Alpha,” and flew off the yoga mat.
White-hot excitement rushed through Hayden’s veins as he hopped to his feet and hurried to follow Charlie’s orders to get there as fast as he could. Behind him, he heard Charlie fly out of his chair and the chair toppling over in the process.
The very second Hayden made it into the bedroom, Charlie grabbed his wrist and tugged him back to him. He slammed the door shut and then pushed Hayden against it. As soon as Charlie got him where he wanted him, Hayden could see the immediate effects on his Alpha. He didn’t mean to do it, of that Hayden was sure, but Charlie’s eyes fell closed as he sniffed the air. The scent that filled the room, that came from Hayden himself, made him tremble. When his eyes opened again, they were swallowed in black, and Hayden held in a whimper as Charlie’s own musk -- his own fallen leaves and wind -- seeped out of him. Hayden breathed him in, reminded of the same thing every time: the comfort and excitement of autumn, and the promise of something wonderful.
“I bet you think you’re very clever, little one,” Charlie murmured, bathing Hayden in so much dominance he shuddered beneath it. “Isn’t that right?”
“Well, I just figured, Alpha,” Hayden said as he tried to catch his breath, “that if you needed to be on the phone, it’d be okay if I did something while I waited. For you. On the first night of date weekend.”
Their faces were very, very close -- almost nose to nose -- but Charlie made sure not to let them actually touch. His hot breath wafted across Hayden’s mouth. When Hayden attempted to steal himself a kiss, Charlie pulled away just enough so that he couldn’t get one.
“You said it was fine for me to take the call.”
“Yes. When it was a work call.” Hayden gave him a cheeky grin. “That didn’t sound much like a work call after a while.”
“So you decided to do something that you knew would get me all hot and bothered, huh? To get my attention?”
“I didn’t think it’d hurt.” Hayden gave him a mischievous shrug. “It’s not my fault I’m so irresistible.”
Charlie clicked his tongue and chuckled darkly. “I guess not. And you are simply irresistible. It worked, though.”
“Of course, it worked. I’m brilliant.”
“Oh yeah? Well, you did manage to get my attention.” He leaned in closer, and whispered in Hayden’s ear, “You might not be so glad you did.”
