Evan is a man lost in the modern world. He has a job, a house, and a best friend, Claire, who lives just across a small patch of lawn from him. He also has a hole in his soul he hadn't even realized was there until one night he meets a mysterious stranger, lurking in the shadows of a tree-lined lane where men meet for anonymous, casual sex. There’s something striking and a little terrifying about this stranger, who visits his house one night while he’s blissfully sleeping.
Evan's initial intrigue is soon compounded when he learns they’ve met before. A long, long time ago, and they used to be lovers. He finds it difficult to believe the devilishly handsome stranger’s tale of romance and loss, yet the stranger is finally able to convince Evan every word is true. The love they once shared reawakens and their nights are filled with a passion which hasn’t abated over the centuries.
Soon it becomes clear they’re in danger of being parted once again, possibly for the rest of eternity. Neither wants to lose their soul mate a second time. But Evan’s lover is reluctant to give him the very thing he needs to ensure they remain together forever more.
The trees were busy. One man stood masturbating while he watched something hidden by the shadows. Another man was being rocked back and forwards over a tree root by an anonymous figure thrusting into him from behind. Ahead, someone was getting a head job at the edge of the shadows. Evan hurried past, his eyes on the massive cock that somehow the man on his knees was deep-throating.
At the end of The Lane Evan stopped. He peered into the dark space beneath the tree. His heartbeat went into overdrive as he leaned forward.
“Hello,” he called out.
“Looking for me?”
Evan spun around.
“How did you ...? I didn’t hear...”
The stranger smiled. “So many questions.”
For a moment the two men stood facing each other. The stranger’s eyes were cold but beautiful; their gaze piercing and unnerving. Evan swallowed.
“I had a feeling you might come to find me,” said the stranger.
“Why did you follow me to my house?” asked Evan, his nervousness forcing the question to spill from his lips.
“Well if that isn’t direct, I don’t know what is,” smiled the stranger. “Shall we walk?”
An answer was obviously not required as the stranger turned and began walking towards Forbes Avenue.
“Who are you?” Evan asked.
The stranger waited until they were beneath the light of a street lamp before he answered.
“I am Sebastian,” the stranger replied, stopping to look him directly in the eye. “Sebastian Lucius.”
“I’m Evan,” he replied simply, not wishing to give too much information away. “Now, will you tell me why you came to my house the other night?”
“Ah the girl,” Sebastian said as they began moving again. “I thought she might have told you.
You’re close to her, am I right?”
“I guess,” Evan replied. “But we aren’t here to talk about her.”
A slight frown hovered on Sebastian’s brow then evaporated. “I found you intriguing.”
Evan guffawed. “What do you mean you found me intriguing? You only saw for me a few seconds.”
“Nevertheless there was something about you I felt warranted further investigation.”
“You’re not a cop, are you?” asked Evan. “I wasn’t doing anything I shouldn’t have been.”
Sebastian threw back his head and laughed. “No, I’m no police officer.”
“Then who are you? You seem adept at dodging questions. That much I have deduced myself.”
“You have deduced well. I don’t think that now is the best time to answer that question. When the time is right I will answer it because I want to answer it properly.”
Evan felt his shackles rising. His cheeks flushed red even in the cool night air.
“And what is that supposed to mean? I’m not one to play games, mister.”
“I can assure I am not one to play games either, but you will have to be patient. I’ll tell you when I am ready. When you are ready.”
