Karl and Daniel are driving back to their small farm after celebrating Daniel’s birthday when they strike something in the road. Whatever it is lands on the roof of their pick-up truck. Not keen to find out what it might be, Karl floors the accelerator as Daniel leans out of the window. Despite the light from a full moon, nothing is seen on the road behind them.

When they arrive home, their relief is short-lived. As Karl turns into their driveway, Daniel disappears out the window of the truck.

Karl hurries after his lover, and manages to catch sight of a dark shape flying through the night sky. Dangling beneath it is his beloved Daniel. Before he can call for help, he's knocked off his feet. A minute later, he finds himself in the air, too, held securely in the grip of a nightmarish beast.

The best Karl can hope is both he and Daniel will survive the night, but that might be easier said than done.

“Shhh. Can you hear that?” Karl asked. “There it is. Listen!”

“I’m trying to if you’ll just shut up and let me.”

Daniel cocked his head and looked at Karl. Both of them wore puzzled expressions on their faces.

“It sounds like giant wings flapping,” said Karl, searching the sky through the windscreen.

Then something heavy landed on the roof. Daniel gasped. Whatever it was took a step, denting the metal as its foot came down.

“Let’s get the fuck out of here,” said Karl, nearly flooding the engine in his hurry to get away.

The vehicle skidded forwards, sending a dark shape spilling onto the tray at the back of the truck and bouncing over the edge.

“What was that?” asked Daniel, scanning the road through the back window of the cabin.

“How the hell should I know?” asked Karl as he pressed the accelerator pedal to the floor. “Can you see anything? What was it?”

Daniel wound the window down and leaned out.

“I can’t see anything,” he yelled back. “There’s nothing there.”

Karl spun the wheel and steered the truck into the driveway of their farm, and as he did Daniel disappeared out the window.

“Daniel!” he yelled.

He stopped the pickup and leapt out. Adrenalin flooded his veins sending his heart racing. He raced around to the other side of the truck, tucking his flaccid cock back into his jeans as he went, but there was no trace of his lover. He heard the beating wings again, massive wings, and the sound of Daniel calling his name. He looked up and could just make out a large black shape flying away from him towards the full moon.

“Daniel!” he yelled, cupping his mouth. “Daniel! I’ll find you, baby. I’ll find ...”

A great force hit him from behind, winding him, and as he struggled to get his breath back he was lifted off the ground. He looked down, watching the road and his truck grow smaller and smaller. For a moment he struggled to free himself, but the creature’s powerful arms were secure around his torso. With a bit of effort he managed to twist himself around and look upon the face of the creature that held him in its grip. The eyes were black and dead, its nose no more than two folds of skin in the centre of its face and when the creature grinned at him its long fangs glistened in the moonlight. Vampire! There had been rumours and he had seen pictures. How could it be anything else? Suddenly it became difficult to breath. The smell of death and decay was strong in his nostrils. He could feel vomit biting at the back of his throat, but he swallowed it down. He had to be strong. For Daniel.
