Josie has loved books since her parents first read to her as a child. She started writing her own songs in her head when she was just 5 years old and would sing them to herself in the bathroom. When she was a young teenager she discovered the magic of romance and happy endings. She has been a fan ever since.
After many years of writing stories in her head, she decided to write one down and became a published author. She loves writing almost as much as reading, although, with two young children, finding time to write can be a challenge.
When not writing, Josie enjoys spending time with her family. They enjoy games, the beach, amusement parks, and of course, reading together.
Q: When did you first start writing?
A: I remember making up my own songs when I was very young. When I was in 8th grade we had to start writing longer stories and I learned how much I loved it. I began writing stories at home in journals.
Q: Why did you decide to write romance novels?
A: I began reading romance novels when I was a young teenager and, even though I read many other genres, it has always been my favorite. I would often find myself re-writing ends or scenes in my head, so it seemed natural to finally sit down and write an entire story.
Q: What do you like most about romance novels?
A: I like that you know there will be a happy ending. I have read many excellent books in other genres that do not always have happy endings. But sometimes in life you just need to know that everything is going to be all right. That is when you can pick up a romance novel and take a break from real life.
Q: You have a family, including two young children, and a full time job. Is it hard to find time to write?
A: It is definitely a challenge! Some days more than others. Luckily I am a night owl and can write late into the night while the kids are sleeping.
Q: How has your family reacted to your writing?
A: Everyone in my family has been supportive from the very beginning. My mother has always believed that I could write a novel, and although this may not be the genre she first had in mind, she has always been a positive influence. All my family members are very excited and happy that I have become a published author.
Q: What keeps you motivated to write?
A: I had loved to write when I was in school, but for some reason I had not thought about making writing a career. I became busy with my job, then my children and so had not written anything in years. After starting the first book and getting beyond the first few chapters I realized how much I had missed writing. I truly love it and sometimes just get so wrapped up in a scene I am writing I lose complete track of time.
Q: Now that you have completed your first novel are you working on another?
A: Definitely. I started my next novel as soon as I sent the first one off to the publisher. I wanted to keep up the habit of writing several evenings a week and the more I write the more ideas I have.
