Lumberjack Weekend (MFM) by Heather Rainier (Published by: Siren-BookStrand, Inc. )

Another wonderful installment in the Divine Creek Ranch series. Violet loves Divine, loves the shop she has opened there and generally loves the life she has created there. The only thing missing, is a man to call her own. She's gun-shy after the way her last relationship ended and who can blame her? Hearing that one of the two men in her life, her lovers, talking about her in a way that made her feel 2 inches tall and the other lamely trying to defend her, destroyed what self confidence she had in herself. Even in Divine where relationships tend to be outside the norm, she doesn't feel safe in dating one person much less trying a menage' again. Josh and Lucas Abbott have had their eyes on Violet since she first came to down, but are hestitant to ask her out again after being turned down once before. Not that they let her out of their sights very often. Lusting after her from near and far, they often find a way to be close to her, even if it is doing odd jobs at her store. When Violet receives an invitation for a fantasy weekend, she decides to take a chance and attend. Little does she know her two admirers will be in attendance. I LOVED this book. Ms. Rainier has written Violet in such a way that every woman can relate to her. At some time in our lives we've all struggled with body image issues, difficult break ups and trying to hold on to something you know is bad for you. The hardest thing is putting oneself out there again, of trusting another with your heart and soul, of simply taking a chance that there is someone out there will love you as much you love them. The Abbott brothers are the right mix of strength and tenderness, of daring and traditional, of light and dark. They make a girl want to take a chance, to see the love in their eyes and take that uncertain step into the future.

Lt. Dan Gamez is a alpha as they come. All go, no quit could be his personal motto. It comes as quite a surprise to find out that the woman of his dreams is even more alpha than he is, and it only makes Dan burn hotter for Rio. Rio Jenson is a border patrol agent back in their hometown and when Dan comes to town for his high school reunion, Rio can't help but wonder what if. What if he wasn't her brother's best friend? As Dan gets to know Rio again, he's amazed at how confident she seems to be, how she manages her life as a K-9 officer as well as a CBP agent with seemingly endless amount of energy. He realizes that not only has Rio always held his heart in her hands, he now knows she's the other, the better half of soul. Explaining his needs to Rio takes more of him than he's ever given another human being, even to the Navy. As Rio digests this information, she realizes that her strength is exactly what Dan needs to be complete. Through the twists and turns, the love between Dan and Rio is never in doubt, nor is the respect they have for each other.

I found this book on the Time Machine page and bought it. I enjoyed the book, but probably because I didn't start the series at the beginning I felt a little lost with the pixies, etc. Over all good book.

Its hard for an author to redeem a character that has shown to be mean spirited, self-absorbed and self-centered, but Ms. Rainier has done it beautifully. When we were first introduced to Presley Ann Woodworth, she was a spoiled brat of a woman who was all about herself, often to the detriment of others. She knowingly chased after men who were already in relationships and did her best to belittle those they loved. After several failed attempts to find to steal a man or men from the ladies of Divine, Presley Ann has one last fling with a guy passing through town. The way he treated her let her know that she was obviously settling and vowed to change her ways. The next morning, Presley Ann regrets her decision not to exchange names, but knows it for the best. When she find outs she's pregnant, Presley Ann is determined to make sure her child is loved and wanted. Changing her ways is hard, but she's knows that her child's wellbeing is more important than the material things in her closet. Before Presley Ann can tell her family she's pregnant, her sister faces a devasting loss. Vowing to be a better sister, Presley Ann bucks up and does all she can to make up for the ways she has treated her sister, and everyone else in Divine, in the past. Before long, Kendry and Jared appear in her life. Doing her best to avoid them and any romantic tendency they may have toward her, she keeps her head down and focused on her new number one: her child. Presley Ann also does her best to redeem herself in the eyes of those she has hurt, and doens't understand the forgiveness being shown to her. Presley Ann's lack of self-confidence is one of her worst stumbling blocks. She believes she deserves the way her family treats her and does little to defend herself against their taunts and outright hostility. Being with Jared and Kendry gives self-esteem a boost and her love for her child does wonders as well. Seeing the evolution of Presley Ann over the past several books, and again in this one, has made me realize, again, what a wonderful author Ms. Rainier is.

Brokenhearted Beauty (MFM) by Heather Rainier (Published by: Siren-BookStrand, Inc. )

Leah Woodworth is grieving, not only for the loss of Patterson Elder, but for the endless possibilities he would have brought to her life. Memories bring regret, sleep, nightmares. Day in and day out, she grieves with her whole heart. Vincent and James Elder have watched her for months, hoping that she would come to them, to let them help her with her grief. Knowing that she can't keep going like this, they go to her, asking to be a part of her life. Sit back, grab a box of tissues and read Leah's story of grief, acceptance and love. Reading about Leah's love for Patterson broke my heart, and I apprecaited the way Ms. Rainier didn't gloss over his passing, but dealt with it head on. I felt as though I was walking the same path as Leah grieved and as she loved and was loved. Ms. Rainier has outdone herself once again.

Divine Charity (MFMM) by Heather Rainier (Published by: Siren-BookStrand, Inc. )
$8.99
Categories: Contemporary, Menage a Trois/Quatre

Divine Charity is one of the best books I've read all year. I was hesitant to read about Charity, but I loved how Ms. Heather showed the backstory and how their romance was not something that just came about. The reassurances between Justin and Charity about the solidity of their relationship allowed them to move forward so that Charity was free to love Val and Ransome. This book has it all -- happiness and elation to deep sorrow and remorse. I can't wait to read the next book in the series to see where Ms. Heather takes us next. All I know is its going to be one heckuva ride.

This book is a solid read. I've read this series out of order and each book, while connected to the others, can be read as a stand alone. The author does a great job in drawing the heroine out of her shell and into the arms of her true loves. A few times I thought the pacing was off, but it was not enough to keep me from enjoying the book. I look forward to reading more about Lusty, Texas!

Divine Grace (MFMM) by Heather Rainier (Published by: Siren-BookStrand, Inc. )
$9.99
Categories: Contemporary, Menage a Trois/Quatre, Western/Cowboys

This reviewer's rating: 5 - Outstanding

I really loved this book. Heather Rainier has written a story about a woman whose life is as realistic as the readers. Grace is the "every woman" that we all know. She’s a little overweight and laughs off all comments that are made about it, willing to drop what she’s doing on a moment’s notice to help others and always puts her and her needs last. We see her as this beautiful woman but she sees herself as "fat" and "unremarkable". The best thing about Grace's men is the fact that not only do they accept her for who she is; they don't want her to change a thing about herself. Well... they do want her to change one thing. They want her to see herself in the same light as they see her. Beautiful, kind and worthy of the love they have for her. This story is a go to re-read for me when I need a pick me up.
