The first book in Menage Amour author Carmie L'Rae's Sand and Spurs series is as deliciously hot as the deserted tropical island it is set on. Real estate agent Bella gets more action and fantasy than she ever dreamed possible when she finds herself shipwrecked with rugged cowboy Trevor and gorgeous playboy Jose. Things are made all the more challenging when the trio discovers that a strange, intoxicating scent in the air has an instant and irresistible aphrodisiac effect on them. All of them. Bella is quickly drawn into a love affair with both men that makes one wish for a chance to cool off in the trio's private waterfall. Even Trevor and Jose are not immune from discovering an unexpected -- and hot -- passion for each other. The plot made for an undeniable page-turner, with pant-worthy love scenes and engaging characters. It was easy to empathize with Bella, who had the good fortune to be "stuck" on a deserted island with two virile, captivating men, each with their own alluring dash of darkness. And what tropical island paradise is complete without its own giant snake, not to mention family secrets, private agendas and buried pirate treasure. Surrender the Booty by Carmie L'Rae was a pleasure to read from start to finish. I will definitely be looking for Book 2 in this sizzling series.

I've read a number of the other books in Tonya's Silver Springs series -- Twin Games (No. 2, Angelina and Jason's story, with some help from his twin, Jackson) and Stormy Nights (No. 3, Bailey and Tripp) among them -- so I figured it was time that I read the first in the series, Caught Off Guard. Now, I like sexy firefighters just as much as the next gal, I'm sure. But that Dean Wolcott -- whew! He defines "hottie." A former bad boy who has become the heroic and very responsible fire captain of a small town, Dean is thrown for a loop when the good girl he loved from afar, Veronica Abbott, comes back to town. But Veronica is far from the sweet society girl she was in high school. She is a sexy widow who has come back to shock everyone by opening a store that specializes in erotic love, with an emphasis on romance. Oh, and she wants one other thing -- lots of hot, sweaty sex with Dean. But she's thrown for her own loop when Dean refuses to play. He wants more from Veronica than just a few skirmishes in the sheets to scratch an old itch. He wants it all. And he won't settle for less than Veronica ditching the Abbott for Wolcott. I recommend Caught Off Guard for all fans of reformed bad boys and good girls, men in uniform and the women who love them, and a sweet, lush romance. Oh, and if you like dull, uninspired sex, then this book is definitely NOT FOR YOU.
