Tracy L. Ranson has always had a dream to write books, as well as give enjoyment to others. Her love of writing stemmed from a love of history instilled by her father. Instead of reading normal children's books to her and her siblings as children, he would always have a history book ready to read. As Tracy grew older, she would read them and really lose herself in the past, especially the medieval period.
Tracy loves the Vikings so much, she married one! Her husband is of Norwegian descent and looks typical of what a Viking would look like with the tall height, deep muscle build, and high cheekbones. She is trying desperately to get him to pose for covers, but he still resists.
Tracy started out with a degree in Engineering and worked in the field for seven years before she realized what her first true love was romance writing. Since 1997, she's written eleven books with quite a bit more coming! She lives in the Midwest with her husband John, three cats, and two dogs. Each of them, in their own way, inspire her writing.
Q: What inspires you to write?
A: Everything inspires me to write. The feeling of being alive is what prompts me to pour my feelings and thoughts into a book.
Q: Where do you come up with your stories?
A: Sometimes, I come up with the title first or perhaps a bit of the plot, then I construct the entire story around that particular tidbit. It's a process that takes time.
Q: What was your favorite novel to write and why?
A: I will have to say Pirates of the Mist was my favorite. I got the idea many years ago after seeing the movie, The Fog. I swore to myself then (keep in mind, I was about ten years old) that if I ever got good enough to write a book, I'd use this plot. So I did.
Q: What is a typical day like for you?
A: My day typically starts around 6 a.m. I get myself ready and take care of all the pets. Then, it's off to my dreaded day job. When I get home, I try to fix a bit of dinner then I settle down to writing.
Q: What are your favorite hobbies?
A: Knitting, painting, sewing, cross stitch, needlepoint, crocheting, and just about anything else I can lay my mitts on.
Q: How do you unwind and relax?
A: Knitting is my favorite passion right now. After I get done writing, I'll sit and watch a bit of TV and knit like an insane person.
