Zequeatta Jaques and her husband make their home in the great state of Oklahoma. With a Masters in Applied Psychology, she is always people watching. Wondering what is going on inside of them.
Besides writing, she loves working in her yard and flowerbeds. Must have that sunshine! Having worked for twenty years outside the home, the last ten within the private correctional prison system and the last four of those years as Assistant Warden, she now stays home and focuses on her writing career.
Q: Is Zequeatta Jaques your real name?
A: Yes, Zequeatta Jaques (pronounced Jakeways) is my real name, not a Pseudonym. I have never had to worry about being confused with someone else who happened to have the same name as mine. In fact, I don't believe there is anyone who has my first name. Thank you, Mother, for being original. There was a lady that asked me once if I married my husband because his last name went so well with my first. Hmm, no. Don't think that was in the equation.
Q: Besides romance novels, what other types of books do you like to read?
A: I have always been an avid reader of anything I can get my hands on. Although, I must confess, my favorite books to read have always been of the romance genre by such authors as Johanna Lindsey, Nora Roberts, Joan Johnston, intermingled with some Stephen King, and of course, Sidney Sheldon.
Q: What other books have you written besides Loving Anna?
A: Loving Anna is my first book written. Currently, I am working on two other novels, one a spin off of Loving Anna. Hopefully, my next book will be out before long, as well as many, many more.
Q: Besides your writing career, do you work fulltime outside the home as well?
A: I worked for twenty years outside the home, the last ten within the private correctional prison system, the last four of those years as Assistant Warden. There was a short stint after leaving the correctional field that I thought I wanted to be a grade school teacher. I lasted three weeks before quickly deciding that line of work wasn't for me. There was never enough time in the day that I could ever find to work full time, maintain a home, raise a family, and write as well. Now I have decided to concentrate on my writing career.
Q: Where do you get your ideas for a story line?
A: With a Masters in Applied Psychology I am always watching people. Can't help it! Wondering what is going on inside of them, so my imagination is very fertile. I have the idea for a book from a dream I had years ago and have never forgotten, and have in mind to write in the near future. When I began writing Loving Anna, I didn't have an exact script in mind. I sat down with a blank sheet of paper and from somewhere began my tale. Only as my story unfolded did I realize the characters and what they wanted me to reveal. Not only do I write about love developing between two people, but my first book and the two I am currently working on, all have other underlying themes that I hope my readers will pick up on and ponder over.
Q: Where do you make your home?
A: I make my home in Oklahoma. And what a great state it is! My husband and I try to take a vacation at least once every year. You know, get away from home for a while. We are always ready to leave but overjoyed when we fly or drive back over that Oklahoma state line.
Q: Is there anything else you would like to tell your readers?
A: Enjoy life and may happiness follow you always! I am interested in hearing from my readers.
