[Siren Classic ManLove: Erotic Alternative Paranormal Romance, M/M, werewolves, HEA]
Sentry Bray Buchannan has known who his mate was for over six years. He had to watch as Lany was held prisoner by the Senate, unable to free his mate or even acknowledge the connection between the two of them. Now, if Bray can rescue Lany from the Sentries guarding him and reach Haven before they are caught, there might be a chance at freedom, a chance for the two of them to finally be mates.
Lany has waited forever for Bray to come for him. When he does, the fear of being caught is overshadowed by the simple touch of his mate’s hand. Lany would rather have an hour in the arms of his mate than a lifetime without him. And if they can’t reach Haven in time, he just might get his wish.
A Siren Erotic Romance
"This third installment of the "Loup Garou" world of wolf shifters adds yet another hunted omega to the ranks of those who resist the Senate and its cruel Sentries. It's the story of Lany, a blind omega shifter, who has known his mate is Bray, one of the Sentries, for six years, yet they have been unable to claim each other for all that time. Now that bray has found information about a safe place for them to run to, they're ready to escape. It still doesn’t make their life easy, but at least they have a chance. IF they can make it. The suspense is very high throughout, and the obstacles they have to overcome are considerable. Lany is blind from birth, but with the help of his enhanced shifter senses he manages quite well. Even in dangerous situations, he doesn’t become helpless. Despite his fear, he holds his head high and fights for himself and Bray, irrespective of his lack of visual perception. I couldn't wait to find out what special omega abilities he has, and I wasn't disappointed! Bray is a big, tough Sentry, one of the best, but he falls apart for his mate. That combination of rough exterior and behavior and emotional vulnerability is very appealing. He tries his best to take care of Lany now that they're on the run, but he couldn’t have done it without his mate. The cooperation between them is beautiful to watch. Like the other couples in this series, these two guys are meant for each other, but unlike the others, they have known for years and were kept apart by circumstances. Now that they're together, their love blooms into explosive-grade passion, and finding the refuge Bray has found out about becomes more urgent each day. With the right balance between action, passion, and a few more revelations about this series' omega world, I found it to be another very entertaining read. If you like stories about werewolves who already trust and love each other but have never been able to consummate their relationship, if you enjoy books with male pregnancy and hardened warriors becoming doting lovers and fathers, and if you want to know how all the guys from the first two books are doing, you will probably like this novella as much as I did." STORY EXCERPT
Frigid cold night air numbed his body and heightened his senses to a near hypervigilance. Bray Buchanan lifted his nose into the air and scented the breeze that blew gently through the night.
He carefully scanned the area around him as he moved silently through the forest, going from one tree to another, then to a pile of rocks and some bushes, whatever would hide him as he made his way toward the small cabin off in the distance.
Bray carefully slid around a large outcropping of rocks and pressed his body back against the cold hard stone of the cliff wall. He had learned early on when not to breath, when not to move a single muscle. He could even slow his pulse to almost nonexistent. It enabled him to blend easily with his surroundings.
No one would know he was coming until he was already there.
But someone knew.
Bray could feel it, sense it. There was a presence in the woods tonight, one that Bray believed was waiting for him to move and show himself. Bray almost laughed at the anticipation that sizzled along his skin.
It had been so long since he had faced anyone that had presented him with a true challenge. It was making the game boring. Bray itched to face someone that could truly be a threat—someone who could present him with a real challenge.
His senses had been honed to perfection by years of brutally intense training. Bray could sense the slightest of movements and detect the smallest sound. Scenting the presence of another in the air was child’s play for him.
There.
A tree branch snapped in the brush off to his left. It was a single twig, but it was enough to tell Bray that his pursuer was getting closer. A grin tilted up the side of his mouth as he turned, using his toned muscles to climb effortlessly up the side of the cliff wall he had been pressed against.
Bray moved with a stealth that was belied by his large stature. He moved like a creature not of this world—which made sense as he was not human by any means. He was Loup-Garou, a wolf-shifter.
He was also a Senate Sentry, trained to kill without remorse, to bring those that broke the law to justice, and enforce the rules set down by the Senate. His entire life had been geared toward serving the Loup-Garou Senate—from his training, which began at a very early age, to his mission tonight.
He had learned to live and breathe his duty…until tonight.
Every step he made was measured and sure as he made his way higher up the cliff and then into a small crevice. Bray crouched down low in the rocks and waited. The sun wasn’t due to rise for several more hours.
He could wait.
Patience was something he had learned years ago. He had been sent out on a hundred missions, most were more deadly than this one, but none more important. He would fight with every fiber of his being to stay alive and complete this mission, even if it meant becoming the prey to whatever was hunting him.
The flutter of a leaf became two then three. Then the bushes off to his left moved, and a small figure stepped out onto the edge of the small clearing. Bray stilled as he regarded the dark-haired man, noting the way he lifted his face into the breeze and sniffed at the air.
Omega.
If he had allowed himself movement, his lips would have curled up in a grin. The guy hunting him was good. Bray couldn’t help but admire his abilities as he sniffed the air then smiled, glancing in Bray’s direction. Bray saw the slight curve of an eyebrow and knew that while the man might know which direction he lay in wait, he didn’t know exactly where Bray was located.
Bray slowly lowered his hand, centimeter by centimeter, until he could reach the knife strapped to his thigh. There was going to be a battle. Bray could feel it in his bones. He would have to confront this man before he could continue with his mission.
As he watched the man move effortlessly across the meadow, he couldn’t help but be impressed by him. The guy moved with a grace that spoke of someone well used to their body and what it could do.
He might be a worthy adversary.
Bray slowed his breathing to a mere whisper. He didn’t move a single muscle when the man paused under the small ledge he was perched on. He inhaled slowly, deeply, scenting the air for any others.
The man was alone.
“I know you are here.” The man’s sweet voice rumbled through the night air, and yet it was almost silent at the same time as if he spoke but only to Bray. “I can smell you.”
Despite his rigid control, Bray’s lips twitched with the need to smile. He knew the man could smell him. He had known that for quite some time. But the guy still didn’t know exactly where Bray was hiding.
Bray’s fingers tightened around the hilt of the knife, and then he readied himself to drop down onto the man below. But as he squatted there, watching the smooth way the omega moved as he walked a few more steps, it was as if an unseen hand was keeping him rooted to the spot.
When the man’s head began to turn, Bray’s breath locked in his lungs.
Eyes as white as moonstones zeroed in on him, and a wicked smile turned up the side of the man’s gorgeous face. The tip of one of his canines shone brightly in the moonlight. “My, my, you are a handsome one, aren’t you?”
Pushing himself back into a crouch, Bray schooled his features. “Flattery will get your throat cut, omega.”
The man’s delicate hand reached up and rubbed at his long swan-like throat, but the amusement in his eyes told Bray that he wasn’t in the least bit concerned by the threat. “Come down from there, Sentry, and we’ll see who gets their throat cut.”
Bray snarled as he swung down with practiced ease, raising his knife into the air at the same time. The man was lightning quick. He dodged the attack as Bray landed in a crouch on the hard ground.
Bray’s head snapped up, eyes narrowing. The extensive training he had gone through since early childhood kicked in as he leapt toward the man. He moved in a circle, his knife clutched tightly in one hand, watching the omega’s every move.
“Don’t tempt me, omega,” he cautioned. As Bray looked into the man’s milky eyes, he saw the deep hunger and aching need in their white depths. An unfamiliar flutter rippled through his body. “Why are you hunting me? How did you know I was here?”
The man’s eyes turned stormy, almost swirling in different shades of white. His hands fisted at his sides. “This is my territory. Do you really think you can come here and I wouldn’t know?”
Bray gave him a smirk. “Yes.”
The omega bared his teeth. “Try again, Sentry.”
With lightning-fast moves that he didn’t see coming, Bray found himself on his back, his knife knocked away. The breath whooshed from his lungs, but Bray was on his feet again with his knife in hand before the man could do any more than damage his pride.
“You will pay for that, omega,” Bray ground out.
“Hmm,” the omega mused, light amusement lacing his tone as he cocked his dark eyebrow once again. “Foreplay?”
ADULT EXCERPT
Lany groaned as he woke up and rolled to his side. He ached. His muscles ached. The aches on his muscles ached. But hot damn, he could only grin when he remembered exactly why he ached. After only a week of waking up every morning wrapped in Bray’s arms, Lany couldn’t imagine waking up any place else.
“I can feel you smiling, Lany love.”
Lany rolled onto his back and turned toward the warm body cuddled next to him. He slowly brought his hand up and settled it against the soft skin at Bray’s throat. From there, Lany stroked his hand up until he could touch Bray’s square jaw and chiseled cheekbones.
“I have a good reason to be smiling,” Lany replied through their bond. He inhaled deeply when a rough chuckle rumbled through Bray, shaking his chest. The muscles rippling against Lany’s body quickened his pulse and made his dick hard.
Someone had once described Bray to Lany as a dark figure of a man, big and powerful, but Lany knew differently. His well-muscled body moved with easy grace. His shoulders were a yard wide. He stood inches above other men.
And yet, Lany knew that he held the man’s life in the palm of his hand. There wasn’t anything Bray wouldn’t do for him. The Senate Sentry had devoted his entire life to Lany’s well-being and happiness, his safety.
“My mate made love to me for hours last night,” Lany whispered reverently as he moved his fingertips over the bristly stubble he could feel on the side of Bray’s face. “He claimed me again and again for everyone to see.”
Lany just wished he could see Bray. Even if the man had been described to him, and Lany had mapped out every inch of Bray’s body, there was a part of him that forever wished that he could really look at his mate.
He understood what the color red was, and even associated it with hot just as he associated blue with cold, and so on. People could explain colors to him until they ran out of breath. That didn’t mean Lany would ever understand them. It was hard to miss what he had never known.
But gunmetal-gray eyes and short-cropped black hair were two colors Lany craved seeing with every fiber of his being. His visions were more like impressions of things that were going to happen or people. They were never the perfect little pictures everyone assumed he had when they learned he had visions.
“I wish I could see you, Bray,” Lany murmured, closing his eyes when he felt tears flood them. He had seen visions of Bray, impressions of who the man was, what type of man he was, but those had all ended when they grew closer. Lany had impressions of what Bray looked like but nothing concrete to base his imagination on.
“Do you know what you would see if you could look into my eyes, Lany love?”
Lany pressed his lips together, shaking his head. He turned his head when he felt Bray cup the side of his face, pressing into the warm callused hand that slid against his skin.
“You’d see me looking back at you,” Bray said. “You’d see how much you mean to me, how happy I am that we’re together at long last, that you are finally my mate.”
Lany laughed instead of giving into the tears that threatened to spill down his cheeks. “I’ve been your mate for six years,” he insisted.
“True, but now I can tell the entire world that you’re mine. There will be no more sneaking around darkened hallways to get a look at my mate or stealing a kiss when no one is looking. Now, I can kiss you whenever I want to.”
As if to prove his point, Bray claimed his lips in a magnificent kiss filled with passion and desire and a need so great that it singed Lany’s lips. He felt the explosion of heat from Bray’s mouth to his. His body, of its own accord, melted into his mate’s.
Bray’s hands roamed over Lany’s body freely, as if they had been lovers for years instead of just hours, softly caressing him, arousing him, driving him to a fever pitch.Bray took his time, his hands and mouth leisurely mapping Lany’s body.
Lany let his head fall to the side, giving his mate room to claim him again. Bray thrust his cock up into Lany, making him scream as his nails dug into Bray’s shoulders. He knew he was a goner with that large cock shoved in his ass. The man knew exactly what he was doing. There was no doubt about that.
Bray knew how to use it and make Lany scream with pleasure.
Bray dipped down lower and thrust his cock harder into Lany’s ass, making him cling to the man as his damn eyes rolled to the back of his head. Bray powered into Lany, making his ass sore and happy at the same time. Lany wanted to grab his own cock, but was afraid to let go.
“Your body fits mine so perfectly.” Bray’s deep voice rumbled right down through Lany’s body and wrapped around his cock, bringing it to full attention. Oh god, he just might be able to come from that sound alone. “I could stay inside of you forever.”
“Okay,” Lany teased.
It felt good to let go of his worries, even if it was just for this moment. Lany was tired of worrying about what would happen if the Senate caught them. He was tired of constantly watching over his shoulder. He wanted to settle down with his mate.
“Fuck me harder, Bray,” Lany begged as his mate curled his hips, snapping them so hard that Lany cried out, his cock exploding, cum splashing between them.
“Lany!” Bray shouted as came, filling Lany’s ass with his release.
Lany cried out once more when he felt Bray’s fangs sink into the soft skin of his shoulder. The bond between them shuddered and strengthened, renewing itself as they connected again on a soul-deep level.
By the time Bray lifted his head and licked the bite mark closed, Lany felt like a wet noodle. He wasn’t so sure he could handle having sex with Bray a few times a day. The man was going to wear his ass out, literally.
