Rebar is shocked to see a woman who he thinks is Camille an hour away from her home. She is alone without her fiancé, Shade. When Rebar approaches her, she doesn’t know who he is and she seems to be in the midst of a PTSD episode.
Concerned about her safety, he follows her when she drives away. His pursuit of her leads to a shocking revelation when he finally gets to question her again and finds out she’s not Camille, but a woman called Cameo.
Layers of mystery start to unravel when Cameo joins her mother for dinner and secrets are revealed. Cameo decides it’s safe to accept Rebar’s invitation for a date, and the journey through Cameo’s past, present, and future begins.
“I don’t know any of you well enough to divulge personal information. This is really freaky. Is that why you tailed me? Are the three of you involved in some espionage scheme? You brought this clone woman to pull off a switch or something?” She glared at Rebar. “He’s been putting on a fantastic act, I must say.” She powered her window up and started her car. Then a flurry of cuss words left her mouth when she realized she was still blocked in.
Rebar cringed and stepped away when she tromped the gas pedal and backed straight into his car just as she’d threatened. A horrid crunching sound and the smell of burning rubber filled the air. She kept the pedal down, shifted gears and didn’t let up until her car literally shoved his vehicle far enough back for her to make her escape.
He unleashed a string of profanity while running to his car. The entire front bumper was smashed in and the grill. He turned to Camille with pleading eyes.
“We’ll take care of it.” She handed him the keys to her car. “Bring her back in one piece…the car I mean. Don’t park close to that crazy bitch.”
“What about you guys? You won’t have a ride and—”
Shade shook his head in visible shock. “We’ll call a tow. Meet you at your house.”
Rebar leapt behind the wheel of Camille’s Mustang and took off after the woman who’d just done the unthinkable. “She must be batshit crazy,” he muttered while shifting gears.
