LuAnne Lockner, the new lady in town, finds herself coming between two long term buddies, Burton Hart and Jesse Greenwood. Determined not to destroy their friendship and sensing they both would like to take things just a little farther, she arranges a wild weekend in Las Vegas ... with both of them.
Just as she suspects, a very good time is had by all.
LuAnne doesn’t expect to find not one but two hunky males in Sand Creek. They are life-long friends and she hates to come between them. Sensing they both long yet fear to take the friendship one notch deeper, she devises a plan to bridge the gap, one wild Las Vegas weekend.
Oh, my God, I know there aren't any film stars around here, but he looks good enough to be one. Brad Pitt, eat your heart out!
Then she recognized him as Jesse's friend Bud. They'd been introduced but hadn't had a chance to get acquainted. Damn, he really cleaned up nicely! Although Jesse'd said Bud was his best friend, they hadn't seen much of him since they'd started dating a few weeks ago. Whether by accident or design, she wasn't sure, but she decided she'd do what she could to change it. Just as women needed their girlfriends, guys needed their buddies and she didn't want to come between Jesse and one of his if she could help it. From what Jesse had said, the two of them went back to early childhood and had been almost inseparable for years.
Apparently Bud was single, too, and he didn't seem to have a special lady. Really, it wouldn't hurt to keep tabs on him just in case things didn't work out with Jesse. Not that she was into cheating games or even hedging her bets, but a girl had to be practical. And if anything, he was even better looking and an inch or two taller than Jesse. His blue eyes would melt the polar icecaps if global warming didn't do it first. He had sandy, wheat-colored hair, just a little shaggy, and a pair of shoulders that barely fit through a standard door. If she'd met him first, things might even be different right now. But she hadn't and she practiced loving the guy you're with. Jesse was nice, good looking and an exciting lover. What more could she ask?
Unless it was two such guys. The naughty little voice in the back of her mind came up with the damnedest ideas! I won't listen. Shut up, you imp. I'm not sure I could handle a ménage! Although it might be fun to try ...
Before the evening was over, LuAnne managed to get Bud to join them at one of the small tables surrounding the dance floor. The band, though local, was more than adequate. They played a mixture of golden-oldie rock, and country from old classics to more recent tunes. The danceable music assured the floor was seldom anywhere near vacant. Sand Creek folks seemed to like to dance.
When Jesse got up for a duty dance with one of his mother's recently divorced friends, LuAnne turned to Bud. "Come on, I can see you tapping your foot. Let's get out there and take a turn around the floor. I'm sure Jesse won't mind."
Bud slid his bright blue gaze to her face, carefully not looking at the draped cowl neckline of her dress, which really wasn't revealing but offered a glimpse at the upper edge of her cleavage, boosted by a very expensive bra she saved for special occasions.
"My pleasure," he said. He had a nice deep voice, very masculine and thoroughly appealing. Jesse's was a bit more in the tenor range, nice but not the baritone pitch that curled her toes.
One of her girlfriends had once said she could get off just listening to Sean Connery speak. All at once LuAnne realized what her friend had meant. There was something erotic about such voices -- all male and totally sexy.
She kept the conversation casual as they danced, but managed to keep Bud talking. It was a slow number, and she edged closer as they circled the floor. When she realized he'd started to get hard, she smiled to herself. I'm not a tease but it's nice to know he's not as immune to me as he's pretended to be. It's too soon yet, but I will get both Jesse and Bud in my bed before I give this up. And I bet we'll set the sheets afire!
Something in Bud's face when he watched Jesse made her wonder, too. She doubted if he even recognized his feelings, but she'd swear there was more to it than simple friendship. Either that or she didn't know lust when she saw it. They'd probably both freak out completely if anyone suggested it, but deep down Bud wanted Jesse as well as his lady.
How intriguing! I see all kinds of opportunities shaping up here but I have to play it very carefully.
