Co-workers and best friends Miranda Harder and Dan Blake have two things in common: a penchant for telling dirty stories, and a fierce mutual attraction. Unwilling to risk ruining their friendship, they have slammed a lid on their simmering desire. On the ride home from her sister’s surprise birthday party, they reach the boiling point and decide to blow the lid sky-high.

Miranda has kinky tastes and worries that Dan may be all talk and no action. Her attempt to make an ordinary vegetable sexy is test number one. Unbeknownst to her, Dan understands Miranda’s need for control, and he’s willing to do what it takes to show her that surrendering to him is what she really needs.

Count on her interfering family and a surprise visit from her brother and his pet primate to throw a monkey wrench into the works. But in the midst of chaos, sometimes love is the most ordinary thing that is best for the heart.

Miranda Harder’s heart pounded against her ribcage. She shifted in the passenger seat of her friend’s convertible, hoping to ease the ache in her pussy. Damp panties, sweaty palms, erect nipples—damn Dan for getting her into such a state. He doesn’t even have to try. Casting him a sidelong glance, she flashed him a smile, then re-focused her gaze out the windshield as the wind whipped her hair about. Despite the cool spring temperatures, she reveled in the freedom of having the top down, needing the contrast to her over-heated body.

Dan returned the grin and shifted the car into a higher gear, accelerating. The action caused the vehicle to vibrate, and in turn it sent a tingle to her core. A shiver rippled up her spine. He might as well have been stroking her wet pussy lips with his fingertips.

“Like the ride?” Dan yelled over the roar of wind and machine.

She turned toward him again, shouting to be heard. “It’s fantastic!” And so are you. In fact, I want to be riding you. One day she’d have the courage to say the words aloud.

His lascivious grin gave her the impression he’d read her mind. Giddy excitement caused her to giggle.

They’d been flirting for months now—she sharing her sister’s phone sexcapades with him, he regaling her with tales of his best friend’s internet indiscretions. All the sex talk had ratcheted their mutual attraction sky high. When she’d made the connection that her sister, Missy, was doing the virtual deed with Dan’s friend, Sam, Miranda had taken it upon herself to get the pair to meet in person. She’d succeeded tonight at Missy’s birthday party.

Of course with her crazy family, the plan hadn’t gone off without a hitch. Or three. Sam had been attacked from the get-go by Scottie, Miranda’s brother’s pet capuchin, who had an unhealthy attachment to Missy. Scottie had viewed Sam as competition. After the second incident, the party had come to a close. She wondered what would happen with Sam and Missy. She nibbled her thumbnail—a nervous habit—worrying that she’d ruined her sister’s chances at love.

Dan reached over and pulled her hand away from her mouth. “Don’t worry,” he shouted, then pressed the back of her hand to his lips. “They’ll be fine.”

Curiosity scrunched her eyebrows. How did he know I was worrying about Sam and Missy?

As if to answer her question, he winked, then dropped her hand into her lap.

Dan raced down Main Street faster than the speed limit allowed. Miranda hung onto her hair with one hand, the door handle with the other, and let out a shriek of exhilaration. A hot sports car, an even hotter man—cloud nine. This night couldn’t get any better, although sex would make the night perfect. A pleasure jolt straight to her pussy.

It had been months since she’d fucked anybody. Dan had piqued her interest the moment he’d come to work at her office. His sandy brown hair, hazel colored eyes, and dazzling smile had captivated her, making the world of social work far more interesting. Even though they’d kept each other in the friend zone, over the past while she’d come to know the sensitive, caring man behind the handsome exterior—the one who wished he could do more for his charges, much the same way she wished she could.

She suspected he could match her in the bedroom, even though she had no proof to back up her belief. They had yet to share a kiss. Their intimacy came from conversation—trading sexual innuendo, talking about their families, sharing hopes and dreams, and joking about unlikely office pairings, even to the point of making up stories on where and when. It made for interesting lunch hour talk for damn sure, and they texted from the moment they woke in the morning until they went to bed at night. And if one of them needed to vent, they spoke on the phone, too.

She cast a sideways glance at him. My best friend.

Their friendship had begun the day she’d caught the defeated look on his face when one of his kids was hospitalized after being beaten by his biological father after being sent home by a judge a few days prior. At the time, she’d wished she could’ve taken Dan’s pain away. Not really knowing what to do, she’d sat beside him in the lunchroom. Other co-workers had come up to offer condolences, but for the most part they’d been left alone. They shared a quiet meal, and then she’d suggested they take a walk.

It had been a silent stroll, and she hadn’t known what to say until she spied the window washer working up on the scaffolding. In great detail, she described a fake sexual encounter between him and their boss. Dan had laughed out loud, the sadness fading from his eyes. It had been a gamble on her part, as she’d been unsure of how to deal with the situation. He’d hugged her tight, then thanked her. Afterward, they sat together, and he spilled his guts, even crying in her presence. She’d cherished his open and honest communication, and after that, they spent every lunch hour together, doing the same thing, bringing levity to often disheartening days.

Dan didn’t mind her weird sense of humor, and the way his eyes flared every time she mentioned a sexual position or various kinds of food to be used during foreplay made her curious enough to know whether or not he’d actually go for her kinky ideas.

And she had plenty of kinky ideas.
