When Nathan meets Amy, she's in tears. Her boyfriend has left to consider their relationship; he's frustrated that she's not more interested in sex. Nathan knows he should leave the young woman alone--relationships with a four-hundred-year-old vampire can be hazardous for mortal females. But he can't fight the attraction any more than he can understand it. He offers to become her sexual tutor and show her how to please her boyfriend. Unable to battle his power of persuasion, Amy agrees. While Nathan is seducing Amy in ways she's never imagined, and showing her things no mortal lover could, she's falling in love with him. When she learns his secret, she's ready to join him in eternity. Haunted by memories of his past, Nathan must find a way to convince Amy that she doesn't belong in the darkness. The question is, can he convince himself to let her go?
"I can help you, Amy. Would you like that?"
When her eyes widened, he pressed his thoughts ahead, focusing on the center of her forehead. Calm, peace, trust.
"Yes, I'd like that."
"Good." He drew a circle with one finger in the air. "Turn around with your back to me."
Amy obeyed, moving as if in a trance.
He'd pull his thoughts back once he had her ensnared. No point in taking the fun out of the whole experience--for both of them.
The dark street was empty, and the shadow of an ancient oak was thick and heavy like a velvet cloak around them.
Nathan reached forward and pulled Amy back to him until their bodies were a breath apart. He listened to her, focusing on the steady beat of her heart. The strength of it was more than just intoxicating--it was deliciously tempting.
"Just relax," he said. He ran his palms slowly across her shoulders and down her arms. "I'll tell you the secrets you want to know. I'll be your tutor. Would you like that?"
She nodded.
Moving like a soft wave across wet sand, he eased his hands around her waist and up to the sides of her breasts. As he'd suspected, the figure hidden under baggy clothes was quite pleasing. Very feminine. Releasing the top few buttons on her blouse from their holes, he gained access to her heated skin.
"The first thing you must have is trust." He nuzzled her hair, letting her scent fill his senses, consciously separating the musky smell of Billy from her heavenly aroma.
