I really like the solution the author gives us within this story about living the BDSM life. I realize that this is not the answer for everyone, but it works here. I loved Matthew. He accurately assessed what Kelly needed, though in real life communication is the key in this lifestyle. I was really blindsided by who Kelly’s enemy was, because it really threw Kelly’s world into turmoil. I should not have been surprised by the reason the person did it for, because it happens all too often in families. When I reviewed the first two books, I had no idea what I was getting myself into and now I am fully committed to reading as much of this series as I can get my grubby little hands on. I really wanted to know more about one of the owners of the sex club. What is he like in his personal relationships? What kind of a man is he? What kind of a dom is he? Is he a good man? Is he a jerk? Matthew is a very strong man and is committed to ensuring that things WILL go his way. He can be very uncompromising at times but he really has Kelly’s best interest at heart. He’s not a jerk but he can be overbearing. He’s not gentle, and he loves in his own way. Kelly is a woman that is used to doing things her way and learns the hard way that the only way is Matthew’s way. I wanted to not like Matthew because he could be so hard toward Kelly, but he was the way that he is to help her find the freedom she needed. It sounds overwhelming and it can be, but Matthew protects Kelly from those overwhelming feelings and helps her be a better person. I have to admit that while Matthew wouldn’t be the kind of dude I could see myself with, I respect him because of his value system and his commitment to his relationship, his business and to himself. Kelly is a strong woman and she comes to realize that submitting doesn’t make her weak it makes her a women who is in touch with what makes her happy and whole. I really like that about her. I have to say that the climax of the story took me by surprise and I have to hand it to you Jan that I had no idea. You totally rock. When he notices the mysterious Raven coming back repeatedly yet refusing the attentions of even the most popular Dom’s he takes it upon himself as the owner/operator to find out why. Kelly McCloud, successful CEO, is respected and feared in the corporate world but that’s not what she’s looking for in her personal one. Kelly wants to be dominated by a man strong enough to handle her yet discrete enough to keep her involvement in BDSM a secret. When the owner himself offers to initiate and train her she feels she’s finally found someone she can trust to respect her privacy because there are those out there that would love to see her publicly humiliated, broken, and made to leave her career in disgrace. I’m a sucker for a BDSM club setting book so this one jumped out at me from the start. This stand alone installment of the “Master of Submission” series features a well respected & feared female CEO with a sub nature searching for her Dom. Of course the premise is she was looking for a safe place to find anonymous hook ups but be real, this is an erotic romance book and we all know there has to be a HEA ending. I liked the match up with these two. Alpha man personality who watched, observed, and used every tool in his arsenal including the club’s dungeon theme room to pleasure his sub. The play action isn’t too extreme as Kelly was an entry level participant in the BDSM lifestyle and it wouldn’t have made sense to include edge play or canes at that point. I would have liked to have seen more bratty behavior and snarky dialogue between the two which would have enhanced the chemistry and sexual tension between the two but felt the heat factor between them sizzled regardless. While this book was well balanced with good story line and well executed erotica I did have several issues that pulled me out of the pages with that head scratching confusion feeling. The first is that that Kelly was a high profile CEO who wanted to hide the fact that she was frequenting a BDSM club. If that was so why didn’t she wear any disguises? It would be just a matter of time before someone recognized and that was a major fear for her so that part confused me. Also, the changing POV takes that occurred throughout this story didn’t appeal to me . The challenge character motivation, actions that occur, and/or consequences because of those actions is what I live for so by taking that out of the mix it took away my choice of interpreting many parts of the book. Overall this book with its BDSM club themed story will appeal to those of you who love a good m-f erotica romance read. I was drawn to both of them from the very beginning of the story. They were written really well and are very real and relatable. This story keeps you guessing as you get to know the main characters and also secondary characters. There are many different personalities that all mix together and change. Kelly has to adjust to her submissive side, a side that she has hidden from herself and others for most of her life. There are a lot of emotions in this story, which I really enjoyed. Kelly and Matthew build a relationship full of true emotions that they let grow on their own. The sex is explicit and frequent but not overly so. It blends into the story well and because of the BDSM elements it helps their relationship and emotions grow. I liked the dynamics of their relationship. Matthew never takes away from Kelly being a capable women and CEO. There is plenty of action in this story to keep you entertained and guessing about what is going on and who is doing it.
